There is no such thing as waste

One of the beautiful qualities of the cellulose fiber is that it can be reused up to 7 times, to eventually become part of the natural ecosystem again.

By only using recycled core material and natural minerals, we can ensure a sustainable product cycle.

Benefits of nature

Cellulose is an essential building block for plant based life, it ensures efficient material use and a strong and lightweight construction.

We took these properties as a starting point for our products and developed a fire resistant, lightweight, strong and acousticly insulating material.

Fossilization

We started out in our creative lab in Amsterdam, to stretch the limits of this versatile material.

By experimentation with impregnating and drying, the material became a carrier of many new properties.

This is how we discovered that it is possible to fossilize a lightweight material, enhancing its strength and fire resistance.

Values

Health

Our impregnated cellulose is a pleasant and environmentally friendly material that does not exhale any damaging gasses.

Even when being exposed to extreme heat, the CPX Class B board does not release any toxic substances.

Upcycling

Downcycling, recycling and upcycling, these are terms used to illustrate the state of the product cycle. When not only reusing the same material, but also adding more value by improving its properties, it is called upcycling.

The processing method of CPX board uses the cellulose fiber as a carrier for fire proof minerals, thus adding new qualities to an already recycled resource.

Biodegradable

The life cycle of the cellulose material as a building block has come to an end when the fibers have become too short to form a strong bond.

Cellulose itself is a natural material and can be reused by plant based life. The natural minerals used in the vulcanisation process are common in soils and known to the world of agriculture. They too can be put back in the natural cycle when propperly diluted.

The Start

Building with cardboard

Fascinated by the high-quality properties of a material with a low-grade reputation, Lode Bruins started his research.

Because of his experience in the aircraft industry, Bruins saw the opportunities cardboard can offer for lightweight and strong constructions.

This was recognized at an early stage, by entrepreneur Anno van der Meer. A collaboration arose between a creative inventor and a driven entrepeneur.

A new economy

CPX as a lightweight, well- insulating, strong and biodegradable material from a residual stream has everything to become part of the circular economy.

The next step

Together with an involved team, a long road with many challenges was taken.

Experiments aimed at improving the properties of the cellulose fibers led to a major leap towards a new building and construction material.

This is how fire resistance and a large bearing capacity were added to the list of material properties.

Applications

Versatility

Although CPX board is mainly used for exhibitions and stand construction, its properties invite for a variety of new applications.

Complementary to the unique feature of fire resistancey, other features are in development. To enable cardboard for new options in different markets. For example, a biodegradable board, that offers both acoustic and thermal insulation!

Useability

The lightweight, but strong CPX boards offer fast and easy construction and lower costs in transportation.

Its strong core offers an ideal casing for connection systems.

Safety

Fire safety regulation become increasingly more important in both exhibition spaces as fair events.

CPX does not only offer the minimum, but can garantee to meet the requirements in a future with a stricter fire safety policy.

Processing

Easy processing

CPX boards can be finished in a variety of ways. We can reliably implement: formatting, milling, punching, contour cutting, foil lamination, fleece lamination and the closing of board edges.

Laminating

By means of optional lamination, the CPX board is given a clean surface which is easy to finish – and is popularly utilised in display and exhibition stand construction.

Depending on requirement and the desired effect, the lamination can be implemented with different papers, foils and fleeces.

Connections

The strong core offers an ideal casing for connection systems.

The fossilised core makes the boards increasingly screw-proof and resistant to a higher point load.
